The Universal Analytics (UA) certification was fully retired in 2023. There is no longer any option to certify for the old platform. If you still have a UA cert listed on LinkedIn, remove it.


How to Add Skillshop Certifications to LinkedIn

  1. Log into skillshop.withgoogle.com
  2. Go to your profile → Certifications
  3. Click the certificate you want to share
  4. Click Share on LinkedIn
  5. LinkedIn will open with a pre-filled form: issuing organization (Google), credential name, issue date, and a verification URL
  6. Confirm and save

The certificate appears under “Licenses & Certifications” on your LinkedIn profile. The verification link lets recruiters confirm it’s genuine.


Renewal: What Happens When Your Cert Expires

All Skillshop certs expire after 12 months. What actually happens:

  • Your certificate disappears from your active certifications on Skillshop
  • The LinkedIn share link stops showing as “active” (it still shows the cert, but without active status)
  • You can retake the assessment immediately — no waiting period

Renewal usually takes less time than the original cert because the material is familiar. Most people retake and pass in under an hour for certs they’ve been using actively.

Google sends reminder emails before expiry. Keep your Google account notifications on.


Which Skillshop Certs Matter Most?

For job applications:

FAQ

Do I need to take the study courses before the assessment?

No. You can go straight to the assessment. The study material is there to help you prepare, but it’s optional. If you already work with Google Ads, skip the courses and take the exam directly.

Can I retake a Skillshop exam if I fail?

Yes. There’s a 1-day waiting period before you can retake a failed assessment. After that, you can retake as many times as needed.

Is there a cost for any Skillshop certifications?

No. Every certification on Skillshop is free. Google does not charge for assessments, certificates, or the study materials.

Do Skillshop certs show up in Google searches?

No — they’re not publicly indexed. They’re visible on your Skillshop profile (private by default) and on your LinkedIn profile if you add them.

Are Skillshop certs the same as Google Partner certifications?

Not exactly. Google Partner status is for agencies — it requires hitting performance thresholds and having certified employees. Individual Skillshop certifications are what employees use to meet that individual certification requirement. Having the cert is part of what qualifies an agency for Partner status.
